Mark DeRidder, Class A PGA Professional
Head Professional Durand Eastman Golf Course
Mark comes to Durand Eastman Golf Course with a lifetime of experience in the golf industry. He has done everything from shining shoes in the locker room to cutting cups on the greens. His goal every day is to make the golf experience the best it can possibly be.
A graduate of the Community College of the Finger Lakes with a degree in Horticulture. Mark’s original career plan was to become a Golf Course Superintendent. In 1977 he took a job at Oak Orchard Country Club in Albion, NY as assistant superintendent. While at Albion Mark also worked part time in the golf shop as an assistant professional. This would lead to a change of heart and Mark then decided to pursue the Golf Professional title and moved on to an assistant professional at Ransom Oaks Country Club in East Amherst, NY. Following a few more seasons as an assistant pro at River Oaks Golf Club on Grand Island, NY, he accepted a Head Professional position at Seneca Lake Country Club in Geneva, NY where he worked for 10 years. The next six years were spent as an assistant at Irondequoit Country Club in Pittsford, NY where he fine tuned his teaching and guest service skills. Since leaving Irondequoit, Mark has worked at the Golden Bear Golf Center in Henrietta, Newark Country Club and Dick’s Sporting Goods in Webster, NY.
Mark is an experienced club fitter and teacher and looks forward to the continued restoration of Durand Eastman Golf Course to the great Robert Trent Jones experience it is.
